LONGVIEW, Texas – Come do your holiday shopping early this year with unique quilts from this year’s Quilt Bazaar!

Country Patches Quilt Guild will be holding its first outdoor bazaar and quilt sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the Heartisans Marketplace, 3501 Gilmer Rd. In Longview. The event features a large selection of beautiful baby and knee quilts for sale, each quilt handcrafted by guild members and sold for $ 100 each. The bazaar is expected to attract visitors from across the eastern Texas area, according to guild members.

“Quilt shows are always a popular event,” said Guild President Tonya Page. “Quilters and quilt enthusiasts come from all over the region to enjoy seeing pieces created by subsequent quilters.”

“Quilts make unique gifts for family and friends for any occasion, and our quilts are perfect for giving this holiday season,” said Susan Cook, vice president of the Guild. “These unique quilts are ideal for a baby shower, bridal party or wedding gifts.”

“Plus, quilts are a thoughtful and much-appreciated gift for wheelchair users or people living in nursing homes and retirement homes,” Cook added.

“The knee quilts are the perfect size for campers and RVers,” said Guild member Vickie Poe. “Not sure what kind of gift to give your student? Your mother-in-law? Your sweetheart? They would love to have a nice quilt from you, so come do your holiday shopping at the start of the year!”

The displayed quilts are pieced and sewn in a beautiful variety of fabrics, styles and sizes. There will be an assortment of patterns and colors ranging from traditional vintage to modern to holiday themed quilts.

The Guild also sells tickets for its annual quilt raffle on Saturday. The 2021 raffle quilt is Nancy Rick’s “Kaleidoscope,” a beautiful queen-size quilt with intricate pieces. “Kaleidoscope” will be on display at the bazaar. Raffle tickets are $ 1 each, with a draw for the quilt on Saturday, December 18. You don’t have to be there to win.

Established in September 1983, Country Patches Quilt Guild is a service organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of quilting heritage. Throughout its 30 year history, CPQG has been committed to improving the crafts and art of its members and to providing educational and service opportunities on quilting within the larger community.

A portion of the proceeds from this sale supports local charities and nonprofits, such as Heartisans Marketplace. Other efforts include a scholarship awarded annually to a local high school student considering a career in an artistic field. The Guild also sponsors quilting programs run by nationally recognized quilters at its monthly meetings.

Country Patches Quilt Guild meets every 3rd Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 2108 Ridgewood Dr., in Longview. Meetings begin at 10 am with member tours starting at 9:30 am Meetings are open to anyone interested in learning more about the art of quilting and visitors are welcome!
