But there is a coworker, whom she calls Rhonda, who has made her professional life “hell lately”.

Everything was fine between them, and she would even go so far as to say that they were “work friends” until the woman invited her to her daughter’s baby shower.

“I arrived with a gift and was talking to my other coworkers who were there, and we understood that neither of us had met the girl. Rhonda introduced her daughter to our little group, and I congratulated her and thanked for welcoming us.

“She laughed and said something like ‘thank you, but I’m not pregnant yet, but it’s always good to be prepared when the time comes.’

“I was visibly confused, which seemed to offend her. After she walked away from our group, my coworker explained that Rhonda told her when they arrived that it was no ordinary baby shower and that her girl felt depressed because few of her friends were pregnant.

“I asked the friends if they knew in advance but they said no and they didn’t understand why they had been asked to buy gifts but decided not to make a big deal out of it. .

“I asked Rhonda why she wouldn’t tell us it wasn’t a baby shower for a particular baby, and she explained” the physical invitations explained that it was a party for her daughter to shower her with. ‘love “… well none of us colleagues received physical invitations.”

So she asked if she could return the gift – it didn’t work out well with Rhonda …

She continued, “I asked Rhonda if I could take my gift back because I’m not made of money, and I would rather give her daughter a gift when she was about to have a baby.

“Rhonda said I would be rude to take a gift back after giving it away and her daughter was going through a lot and couldn’t wait to open the gifts. I said I’m sorry, but I can’t do this I took my present and left.

The girl sent me hateful messages on Facebook, including calling me a ‘disrespectful old b ***’ and Rhonda’s bad friend. he must have caused so much grief.

“I also realized that I had taken a present that was on top of mine and that came from my coworker, and she said she wanted me to bring it back to her and not give it to Rhonda and to her daughter, but Rhonda found out and threatens to go to HR if I don’t return the gifts, and buy something else on the registry (most of the items on the registry aren’t even for babies) for the suffering that I caused. “

She concluded her post by asking, “Am I a hole ** for taking a giveaway because I was lied to?”, But Reddit users were on her side.

One person said, “What did I just read ?? Is this mother real ????? Please stay away, away from these people. Unbelievable.

Another commented: “Okay you REALLY need to talk to HR about this as she is deliberately creating a hostile work environment for you and harassing you while being INCREDIBLY unprofessional to your customers and it’s not. good.”

“It’s the strangest thing I’ve ever heard,” wrote a third.
